Can you be with someone else when you still don't know who you are yourself?
Teddy has left Rachel several embarrassingly long-winded and drunken voicemails. He’s still in love with her. She won’t talk to him. Since he can’t be with her, he fills the hole in himself by initiating a purely physical relationship with Hallie. She likes him more than he likes her.
He heads up to a friend’s country house for a summer weekend thinking that it’ll be the perfect opportunity for him to get Rachel back. But when he gets there, he finds that she’s brought her new boyfriend, an early thirties Greek entrepreneur, who she met in a Paris discotheque during her year abroad.
When he convinces Hallie to come up and join them, it starts as a selfish attempt to make Rachel jealous. But over the course of their time there, he realizes that the girl he’s been fucking and taking for granted might be the girl he was meant to love all along.
You of All People is about how hard it can be to let someone love you and how easy it is to ignore the things that might actually make you happy.
The things on this blog serve as inspiration for the look and tone and atmosphere of this movie.
